This page contains information about the gear we use
Both the cameras we use are DSLR with APS-C sensors. They are entry-level cameras but they provide very high quality pictures and it will take a while before they are our limitation and not our skills.
Nikon Af-P 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 G (Kit lens)
Nikon AF-P 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 VR2 (Kit lens)
Nikon AF 50mm f1.8 D (Manual focus only)
This ‘nifty-fifty’ has been the first lens we purchased. It is great for portraits and also for street photography. On our cameras it is like a 75mm so you need to keep a bit of distance with the subject but with f-number down to 1.8 it is possible to take very nice bokeh.
Sigma OS HSM 18-300mm 3.5-6.3
This lens is perfect for trips. It’s not too heavy, it’s not too big, and provides a great range of focal lengths allowing to take pictures from panoramas to details. Most of the pictures that you can see in the gallery are taken with this lens.
Samyang 24mm f1.4 (Manual focus only)
This jewel is a nocturne animal. This is, according to some rankings, the best lens for night photography (for full-frame cameras) and performs very well on APS-C as well. With the maxium aperture of 1.4 it allows to capture a lot of light in shorter time, avoiding the risk for star trails. It is quite heavy and has manual focus only, so it is very oriented to astrophotography, that is what we use it for.
